Douchala Pass, often referred to as Dochula Pass, is a scenic mountain pass in Bhutan, situated at an altitude of about 3,100 meters (10,171 feet) above sea level. Located approximately 30 kilometers from the capital city, Thimphu, it serves as a picturesque vantage point with stunning views of the Eastern Himalayas.

One of the most notable features of Dochula Pass is the 108 chortens (stupas) that were built to honor the soldiers who lost their lives in a 2003 military operation against insurgents. These chortens, known as Druk Wangyal Chortens, create a striking visual contrast against the backdrop of the mountains. The area is often enveloped in a tranquil atmosphere, especially in the early morning when clouds blanket the landscape.

Visitors to Dochula Pass can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views, particularly on clear days when the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, including Gangkhar Puensum, are visible. The pass is also a popular spot for trekking and hiking, with various trails that offer opportunities to explore the rich flora and fauna of the region.

The surrounding area features beautiful rhododendron forests, and during the spring, these blooms create a vibrant display of colors. Overall, Dochula Pass is a must-visit destination for travelers seeking a blend of natural beauty, cultural significance, and a serene environment in Bhutan.
